*In James Lipton voice* For many, many years, the fiction novel has been considered a dead artform. It is a tragic assumption as there are many talented people out there in the world who produce quality works of literature. My next guest is such an example.

Hailing from Northern Pennsylvania(a great state to hail from, btw..ehhem...),she developed an obsession with all things literary and musical thanks to the influence of an extremely creative family. Before moving to the Midwest to study English in 2002, she trained in vocal performance and had her first taste of literary work as an editor for a local social organization. Today, she works for the University of Missouri and is also a Developmental Editor for Omnific Publishing.

1. Let's talk about the imagination that lurks within Jennifer DeLucy. Do your ideas come to you or do you go out searching for them?

So far, I've written about topics that I'm just inately interested in, (i.e. the supernatural, paranormal, eastern philosophy.) The great majority of the philosophy and ideas in my first book (soon to be a series) came from things that I'd absorbed and taken to heart over the years from reading and spiritual study.


2. At what point in your life did you choose the path of writing?
I've wanted to write since I was old enough to understand the concept--that and singing were my two great loves and still are. Really, I'd say my whole life so far has been a journey to do the things I love. I was born wanting to do these things.


3. What book have you read and wished "Damn, I wish I wrote that."?
Oooooh, now that is a hard one. But I'd have to go with The Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mitch Albom. The ideas behind that novel are so inspiring and hopeful and it really leaves the reader with a sense of peace that everything has a purpose, everything will be okay.

4. Can you explain to a non-Twilight fan such as myself the appeal of the series?
HAH! The Twilight Series, huh? I think those books appeal more to women than men, anyway, but if I'm being honest, I think people tend to be more attracted to the unresolved sexual tension in the books than anything else. Not so sure they'd have been as popular as they are if the main characters had just stopped torturing themselves and done the deed.


5. How do you temper the real world with the Jennifer DeLucy world?
Good question, because it's a constant balancing act. You have to keep your head in the fantasy of a story long enough to do it justice, all the while dealing with the fact that, in real life, you can't see the end of the story, you can't control the plot yourself, and that can be disillusioning. But, family and trusted friends help with that aspect, help to keep you grounded. I do think it's important to believe in magic, though...

I grew up in Westfield, IN. When I was growing up it was only a really small farming community. It has since blossomed into a huge town not unlike Indianapolis.


I met my husband in January of 1994. We were both working for a hose factory. He walked through the door, and the wind caught his hair blowing it back behind him. He was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. I remember asking the girl next to me what his name was. After she told me I said, “he’s the one I will marry”…. She responded with, “honey you are not his type”. Was she ever wrong! We had a whirlwind romance, married that June. We’ve been married for almost 16 years with two beautiful children.

I love staying at home with our children. I am working on getting an online business going, and writing at the same time. I enjoy life, and I can not think of more of a blessing than this. One of my friends has a quote in his signature line, “When God acts, you won’t know he did anything at all”. That is really something to ponder, and it holds so much truth.

1. So let's begin with why you have come on my blog. Discuss with my readers your brand new store.


I currently have two online stores. The first one is houseofhill.org. House Of Hill was started January of 2010. If it wasn’t for my friends who have helped me along the way, I would not have gotten anywhere with it. A special thank you goes to Ken, Frank, Yonatan, Hanh, and you Eric. Each of you have helped me out tremendously.


This website is dedicated to hand-made, or hand-crafted items. You will find gorgeous quilts in all sizes. Quilted items such as throws, linens, etc. These are made by D & Me. Mary (Me) has been quilting since the age of 5. She hand-sews every quilt that she makes. D & Me is located in Montana, and supplies quilts to the USA only. Don (D) enjoys working with wood. He creates all of his wooden toys by hand. These toys have survived one generation of their children, and are now enjoyed by their 2nd generation. 2. What was the reason you decided to go into the often shadowy world of internet marketing?

*laughs at that question* Oh wouldn’t you love to know? Lol just kidding… Did I forget to mention I was blonde, and often spontaneous. I love to jump in head first instead of testing the waters? Actually, it is good that I jumped in head first failing to notice the shark infested waters. If I had noticed them I may have been more hesitant.


But to answer your question. Unfortunately, it is a necessity. Without internet marketing my sites would just be little specks in the desert. I do not know if I will ever be a “Master” of marketing, but I am fortunate to have met some very nice people along the way. Their words of wisdom will help guide me through this rough terrain so I do not get eaten up by the sharks.



3. In addition to being an online entrepreneur, you are also a writer. What brought you to that path?

It is one of those distant childhood memories that sticks in your mind. I was in the 4th grade, and we had been assigned to write a little story. The teacher (unfortunately I can’t remember her name) informed my parents that I had a budding talent for writing. The thing that stuck the most with me was when she said, “She’ll probably write a novel one day”. I really do wish that I could remember her name, because if I ever finish my novel I would love to remind her of what she said. She made a real impact on a very young mind.

Next to my family, writing is my second love. There are so many things in the world to write about. I actually have a little notebook that I carry with me so I can jot down ideas when they come to me. You never know when you will see something totally sublime, or meet someone that is so interesting that you just have to remember them. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to write. A true blessing from God.



4. Tell us about the story you are currently working on at this moment.

16th century England fascinates me. Especially the Tudor period. There are so many historical figures of that time that had such an impact on the world. They probably never even knew it at the time. If they knew now how much they are remembered, and the impact they made what would they possibly think?


The working title of my novel is “A Trick of Light”. Light “as I’ll refer to it for short” is historical fiction but based on actual historical figures and events. Light does not evolve around King and Queens, but is based on the feudal system. The main character, Lady Katerine, is loosely based on Erszebet Bathory. If you haven’t heard of her, you may know her as the Blood Countess. She was a Hungarian Countess reknown for her brutality, cruelty, and beauty. She was responsible for at least 612 deaths that were accounted for. Lady Mary will have the intelligence and cunning of Anne Boleyn, and the charismatic childish demeanor of Catherine Howard. Lord Edward is based on Ferenc Nadasdy, Erszebet’s husband.

Lady Katerine is forced to marry Lord Edward out of political necessity, as was the custom of that time. She loathes Edward, but is also fascinated by the methods in which he tortures prisoners. She is deeply involved in learning these methods in order to not only use them on him herself, but also to use them on prisoners. She wants to draw Lady Mary into these schemes, but Lady Mary is unwilling to join her. The secret that Lady Mary shares with Lady Katerine plays a huge part in Katerine’s methods of persuading Mary to join her. At the center of this secret is Katerine’s love for Lord William. Lord William is based on Robert Dudley. The infamous favorite of Queen Elizabeth.



5. You must balance motherhood, a marriage, a business, and writing. How do you do it?

If it wasn’t for my children, I couldn’t write or work on my business. They inspire me in ways that you would never even think possible. It could be just something little that they say while playing, or something that they do. I love being a mother and a wife. It brings me untold joy, and I count myself very blessed to have my family. I am hoping that if my business does well that my husband will be able to come home and be with us more. For the past year, he has had to miss so much. I really feel for him, and I know I can never truly understand what he feels.


He loves to show off my writing, often to my embarrassment. It is really flattering, but at the same time makes me want to go hide in a hole. The funniest thing he has ever done is hide a book in which one of my poems was published in his truck. At work he would drag this book out and show it off to people. I finally figured this out, and stole it back. It was really funny, but I was sooooooo embarrassed.

Juggling all the hats I wear isn’t easy. I can honestly say sometimes it makes me really emotional. I wake up some mornings and dread having to start the day, but I always have to remember who the people are that I do this for. The reasons that I do it. That helps me to keep going.

City of the Living Dead

YOU MUST WATCH THIS MOVIE! If you are a hardcore horror fan or just a  casual observer, it would behoove you to view this 1980 Lucio Fulci near-masterpiece. This is not your cliched zombie film. Oh yes, there is blood, a memoriable puking scene and a Zombie-like soundtrack.

After Father William Thomas (Fabrizio Jovine) hangs himself in a cemetery, the gates of hell are opened. Zombies with abilities of super strength, teleportation and levitation appear and start killing off people in town. Investigating reporter Peter Bell (Christopher George) along with psychic Mary Woodhouse (Catriona MacColl) travel to Dunwich, New England, and from the Book of Enoch learn that they must close the portal to hell before All Saints Day, or the spirits of the dead will overtake the earth.

For a film such as this, the zombies are a bit more creative than says in a Romero film(no offense to his magnificent talents) or any other zombie film featuring slow or fast movers. Ok, the acting is of course over-the-top. The soundtrack perhaps could have been a little more creative and the last ten seconds are WTF but otherwise this movie is superb in its execution. So good in fact, I am putting in as the fourth member of my HOF(The Exorcist, Susperia,Zombie). 9/10

Well the take on this has changed with the departure of Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets for a 5th round draft pick. First of all, I'm quite ok with the trade. Holmes had one year left on his contract. The Steelers have  reat WRs in my boy Hines Ward, the returning Antwaan Randel-El, and the up and coming Mike Wallace. Holmes has a history, a bad one. What people who are whining about this morning don't realize is the black n gold have a history of drafting fantastic players in the later rounds(Ward and James Harrison to name a pair). So, don't worry, don't fret, come September we will be ok in the WR position.

Now as for Mr. Roethlisberger, you, sir, are an idiot. I cheer for the Steelers not the individual player(cept for Ward, of course). Your actions off the field since 2006 have been immature at best, criminal(allegedly) at worse. How bout if next season you try staying home for a change.

My Breakfast With Samuel Jones-
*In James Lipton voice* For years, there has been a stigma associated with fans of professional wrestling. We have been called every hyperbole for classless, unintelligent, illiterate,etc. My next guest breaks the stereotype, quite well I might add.

He is not the Boston Celtic or the actor who played Flash Gordon to the Queen soundtrack. He's originally from Surry, NH and joined the Army as a crewman on an M1 Abrams tank. After 3 years he got out and proceeded to party too much. After being a cross country truck driver and school bus driver for a few years he became an apprentice lineman out of Local 104 in boston. He now live in Colrain, Mass and work for the power company. She met my wife at the school bus co. She was the most well behaved student he had! Just kidding, she was also a driver. They were married in his great uncle's hayfield and had a pig roast. He  has 2 boys, 3 and 5 and always been a gamer, back to the Atari 2600 days. He spends limited free time now listening to podcasts and playing Wow.

1. I noticed you are an avid reader. What are some of your favs?

I really do enjoy reading. Finding time is the hard part. But over the years I have read some enjoyable stuff. I really enjoyed The Chronicles of Narnia growing up. I love LoR but couldn't fathom it till I was in my 20's. I read Watership Down when I was working on the road once. I actually liked the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. That look at growing up in the pioneer days really fascinated me. Ender's Game. Just recently read "The Road". That's one of those that really got to me since I have young sons. I read some comics. Mostly Captain America and The Avengers but I'm kinda behind on it all right now. The best comic in the history of everything was Mike Baron's "Badger". Looking forward seeing where comics on the Ipad go. I like alot of Stephen King. I always felt that his endings sort of fell flat. Or went overboard maybe? I'll also spend alot of time reading gardening books and junk. Finally I can't leave out wrestling biographies. Bobby Heenan's two books were great.

2. How big is your Neflix queue at this point? What movie are you looking forward to seeing the most?

DVD 62 Instant 105. Actually most of these are things for my wife and kids. We recently gave up on cable/satellite tv. All we watch is Netflix stuff. My wife and I are watching Lost, Dexter, Heroes, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. These are things we never watched when they were actually on. The only thing I miss on live tv is wrestling. As far as movies are concerned, there's not a lot that's really grabbing me right now. I have "The Count Of Monte Christo" ready to go as soon as I finish the book. I'm pretty much lost with the names reading it so I'm hoping the movie will clear it up a bit for me. I do really want to see "The Road" as I enjoyed the book. Hope they didn't change it to much as they are so apt to do. I guess some the stuff that's coming for the boys is what I'm looking forward to the most. We're watching a lot of old cartoons and what not from my youth. I'm sure they think I'm nuts.

3. Greatest wrestling match ever?

Whew! That's a tough one. I got into wrestling when I was in the Army because if it was on, someone in the barracks would be watching. Two things took place then that hooked me. One was the Ultimate Warrior beating Honky Tonk Man for the Intercontinental title. A crappy match but effective in grabbing my attention. The other was Ric Flair bitch slapping Lex Luger while the Horsemen had his back. Not even a match, but effective. Man, I'm just at a loss trying to remember specific matches. I guess the match that I really really just had to see would have been Hogan vs Warrior. Too bad it sucked. Goldberg winning the title was a must see for me as well. But I don't even remember who he beat! As far as really good matches, there have been many. Rey Mysterio, Curt Hennig, Brett Hart, Jimmy Snuka, AJ styles, etc etc. There is and has been some amazing talent in the sport, just more often than not, they have been victims of wrestlecrap. For me the build up has alway surpassed the climax. The main problem in wrestling today is lack of story and character development.

4. Should R.D. and Blade just jettison the whole TNA correspondent idea?

No Way! They just need to find the right man...er, woman...er, robot for the job! I found a toy on the side of the road one day at work. It turned out to be the machine from "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs". I immediately got out the Sharpie and scribed "Jonny 4" on it's side. To this day it resides on my bucket truck's dash. And as sick as it may seem, I miss old Mike Check...

5. Living in New England, what do you do if you spot a Yankees fan?

Well, not being a fan of "legitimate" sports, nothing. There is a lot of heat on Yankees fans, though. Many a "Yankees suck" bumper sticker can be seen in these here parts. I guess I never really understood the geographical team loyalty. How many Red Sox players are from the Boston area? Or from the US even? It makes me think of Bobby Heenan's book. He mentions how he used to wear a jacket with "Beverly Hills" written across the back. At the time he had never once been west of the Mississippi. I did get kinda sucked in when the Red Sox won the series. My wife and mother in law watched that night. I have a glass commemorative coke bottle from the occasion. That should put one of my great grandkids through college when they win the next one!

Seers of Light is complete...and here is my review...

I didn't know if I wanted to do a legit review of this book. Afterall, I'm friends with the author and I don't want her sending certain Combatants after me, lol.

Actually, I can feel comfortable with doing a review because it is a very good story. Lillian Hunt was living an ordinary life in an ordinary Pennsylvania town. Yet, she feels different than the others. A fateful walk in the forest proves this. She is taken by a gentleman, Christian, who is part of secret organization who watches over supernatural activities.

She discovers talents she never thought she'd possess thanks to a certain young gentleman named William. From there,Lilly and her superfriends perform tasks to send lost souls on back to their homes.

There is a certain tension initially between Lilly and William and an ongoing tension between Christian and William. That's where I'll leave the plot as not to give it all away.

For a guy who reads scifi,horror, political thrillers, and westerns, I actually liked this story. It had a "Star Wars" feel with the mentor/teacher relationship in the beginning. Lilly discovers herself, so to speak. William, to me , is the most relatable, he's a character who rises above his circumstances.

The only two glaring minor faults are some of the dialogue feels stilted and the hateful tension Lilly has for William perhaps could have lasted a bit longer. All in all though, fantastic first effort by my friend...8/10

My Breakfast With Rhonny Rheaper-
*in James Lipton voice* One of the many unfortunate realities in this, The Great Recession, is the sacrifice made to entertainment budgets. People across this land are giving up on movies, books, and video games as a way to save money. However, there has been in recent years, a surge of inexpensive horror movies flooding the market. You may ask yourself, "Which of these films are worth my time if not my money?" There is a guru from the land of Cleveland who can help.

This lady is a 19 year old horror fanatic. She runs the horror blog Dollar Bin Horror, the blog for horror fans on a budget. She digs through the used sections and dollar bins to find the best deals possible on horror films, watches the newest in low budget indie horror, and interviews indie horror authors, director, and actors for an in depth look at the world of low budget horror. Right now she's in college for nursing, but would like to one day go back for film school and make her own low budget horror films.

1. You have developed a reputation for being the Internet queen of the economically feasible horror dvd. In your ongoing quest for the best on the cheap, what has been the Hope Diamond and what has been the lump of coal?


Well first, let me thank you for such a grand compliment! I think the best film I ever found in the Dollar Bin was the original Nosferatu. It has become one of my all time favorite films. The worst probably has to be Swamp Women, not because it's a bad film, but because I was tricked! It looked like horror, but was some crime drama!


2. What is it about Vincent Price that draws you to him?

Vincent Price is simply amazing. He's got the looks, the voice, the mannerisms...he is simply the perfect horror actor. Even in horrible films that make you wonder why they were even made, Vincent stands out as a star.

3. What makes for you a good horror film?

A good horror film has to be balanced. It has to have great writing, great actors, and just enough but not to much gore. If there's to much of one of these, then the film seems like it's compensating for the lack. Take the SAW films, the first one was balanced; good acting, well written, and the perfect amount of gore. The second one, although I like it, seemed to rely on the gore/shock value more than it did the acting or writing. If the film isn't balanced, the viewer will know.

4. To native Clevelanders, John Elway evokes a kind of mob murder mentality. Who, from the horror genre, would you have performing the honor of payback for "The Drive"?

I'm going straight up Jigsaw with him, except I'd go with the Amanda style trap, where there is no possibility for escape. The Angel Trap is looking mighty fine right now...


5. For the younger readers, tell us about the legendary Ghoulardi.

Ghoulardi is a legendary horror host here in Cleveland. From 1963 to 1966 he dominated the late night airwaves with his show, Shock Theater. Unlike most other hosts at the time, his character had more of a "hipster" feel to him, his mannerisms were jazzy and mellow, and he was live on tv and kept station management on their toes! He was simply amazing and in Cleveland, he's bigger that Vampira and Elvira...he's Ghoulardi!

Ladies and Gentlemen: Patrick Campbell

1. At what point in your life did you fall in love with horror movies?

What was the singular film?

I think a major movie was Freddy vs. Jason because I was religious at

the time and was slammed for liking such a movie and that started a

long saga of watching horror but sometimes feeling guilty about it

that evolved into the current me who is not religious and watches all

kinds of horror.

Besides that it was my first Jason movie and now Friday the 13th

series and remake are my favorite movies.



2. What is your favorite sub-genre of horror movie?

Slashers which are full of fun violence and nudity and sex and also

there's a ton of different kinds of slashers and an seemingly endless

amount filmed in the 80's so I have plenty more to watch.



3. We met, in part, due to our mutual love of Lucio Fulci's classic

1979 film Zombie. What was about the film you found enjoyable?

It comes across to me as an excellent filmed movie, one of the best

zombie films I know. It's known for a few scenes, and yeah it's gory,

but it's also well filmed, acted, and has a wonderful soundtrack.

It rocks and is one of the things that proves that Lucio Fulci is an

amazing filmmaker.



4. What is the deal with Wisconsin producing two of the most famous

serial killers of all time?(Ed Gein, Jeffery Dahmer)

Ah man don't ask me. I spend a lot of time alone but don't rob graves

or wear skin, and I'm queer but I don't drill people's heads. Gein was

declared legally insane and Dahmer, I don't know. Something in the

water?

I just find it fascinating that these guys have become so big and look

forward to a upcoming Wisconsin-made film, this is really coming out,

Ed Gein: The Musical. The trailer is fantastic.



5. Where do you see the horror genre in five years?

I read someone talking about Paranormal Activity saying there will be

a huge change with indie films doing better or something. Yeah well

they said the same thing about Blair Witch. I think is the reality is

you can't predict the future of horror, you can guess based on what's

currently doing well but next week may be the decline of remakes for

all we know.

I will say horror movies have survived censorship, hatred, critical

scorn, they have been bullied and beaten to pieces and still are

strong as ever. Whatever the future holds, horror movies aren't going

anywhere.

My five favorite Mellon Arena moments-

Well kids, this past Wednesday mark in an end of an era for my beloved Pittsburgh Penguins as they played and won their final regular season game ever in the old Mellon Arena. So many fond memories for me as a lifelong Pens fan(yes, even through the myriad of muck pre-Mario and pre-Sidney). My two favorite memories are, of course, the two Penguins games I attended. They won both and it was so exciting to be a part of the atmosphere on those two occassion. Here are five more Mellon Arena moments.

5. Game -2008 Eastern Conference Finals
Ahh, the sweet scent of victory as my boys took it to the Philadelphia Fryers..errr Flyers to clinch their third conference title and first since 1992. They dominated the Broad Street Buttheads all series all long bay-bee!!!!



4. Mario Lemieux five goal night-December 1988/March 1996
I missed it the first time he scored five goals in one game...I missed it the 2nd time he scored five goals in one game...but not the third!!!





3. Game 6-2009 Stanley Cup Finals
PRAISE ROB SCUDERI!!! Down three games to two against the defending champs, the Detroit Red Wings, The Penguins were up 2-1 with time running down. What happens next will be forever in the annals of Pittsburgh sports history...

God Bless Mario Lemieux. Anyone who did not see #66 in his heyday missed out on perhaps the greatest ever to play the game(I Know, I Know Gretsky has the records but if Lemieux had a stronger back he would be at the top)

Another Decent Into...
Don't Torture A Duckling-The bad movie streak stood at three. Stepfather remake, Macabre, House of the Devil, all EPIC FAIL...So it was up to Lucio Fulci to pull me out of this celluloid funk I was in with his 1972 Don't Torture A Duckling. Would the streak end? Would I have to reconsider slashing movies from my Netflix queue?...Well the answer is yes and no....The title itself is kind of misleading. I was expecting a blood and guts Italian style horror but instead I got a murder mystery, a very good murder mystery.

In the small Southern Italian village of Accendura, three local boys, Bruno, Michele, and Tonino are engaged in mischief and other activities. Giuseppe Barra (Vito Passeri) a local simpleton and peeping tom, who is seen spying on two rowdy swinging couples, is surprised when the three boys appear behind him and yell out, "Giuseppe's a big baby!" which goads him into a state of bitter resentment. Meanwhile, in the hills surrounding the village, a reclusive Gypsy witch named La Magiara (Florinda Bolkan), is conducting sinister black magic ceremonies, first by digging up the skeletal remains of an infant, and then plunging pins through the heads of three tiny clay dolls. It makes it clear that these are the three youths taunting Giuseppe. When Michele returns home, his housekeeper mother urges him to deliver some orange juice to their employer, Patrizia (Barbara Bouchet) a young woman from Milan who is laying low in the village after a drug scandal.[1] Patrizia offers undefined sexual favors to the local adolescents when she's shown sexually taunting Michele.




When Bruno Lo Casio goes missing, a media circus begins as reporters from all over Italy converge on the town. One of them is Andrea Martelli (Tomas Milian) a sharp-witted journalist from Rome whose insights into the case are acknowledged by the regional police commissioner (Virginio Gazzolo) working with the collaboration of the village chief of police Captain Modesti (Ugo D'Alessio). Amid local hysteria, Giuseppe is soon arrested when he's found near the dead body of Bruno. But he protests his innocence for he claims to have only discovered the body of the boy and then phoned the parents in a feeble attempt to extract a pitiful ransom of six million lira. When another dead body of a young boy, that of Tonino is found, the police realize that he really is innocent. A few nights later, during a raging thunderstorm, Michele Spriano, sneaks out of his house to meet with someone he speaks to over the phone, and he too is strangled by an unseen assailant and his body is found the following morning.



Martelli soon meets and befriends Patrizia whom he recognizes from newspapers where he used to work in Milan. Patrizia is considered a slut by rest of the insular villagers mainly because of her modern style of dress with halter-tops and mini-skirts. Martelli also meets with the amiable young village priest, Don Alberto Avallone (Marc Poreli) and his strangely reserved mother Aurelia (Irene Papas). Don Alberto runs a boys group at the church (which the murder victims came from) and he also encourages the boys to play soccer on the church grounds to keep them off the streets and out of trouble. Since he is the priest and connected with the powerful Catholic Church (which holds the real power in Italy), he is well known and respected by everyone in the village and surrounding area. But Aurelia is a dour mysterious woman. A villager confides in Martelli that, "she is only tolerated because she is the priest's mother."



Elsewhere, Captain Modesti and his aide meet with Francesco (George Wilson), an eccentric old hermit living in a tumbledown stone hut in the hills overlooking the town, who practices black magic and offers charms and potions to the superstitious. He claims to the police that he has passed his knowledge of black magic to his disciple, Magiara, and also shares time with the casual thrill-seeking Patrizia. He is also rumored to have had (and then disposed of) a baby from a tryst with Magiara. Angered by Francesco's unwillingness to co-operate with the investigation, the police proceed to hunt down and arrest Magiara. Under interrogation, the fevered woman gleefully confesses to the murders. However, it transpires to Modesti and the Commissioner that she believes her voodoo dolls and incantations have merely brought about the deaths of the three interfering boys, and she profess to have no interest or awareness of the physical methods used. An alibi provided by a policeman sighting Magiara miles away from the latest murder scene clinchers her legal innocence and she is released the following day. Nonetheless, the hostile and superstitious villagers are not convinced and the so-called "witch" is set upon in a local graveyard by a small mob of men who savagely beat her with heavy chains and then leave her for dead. The bloodied and mortally wounded Magiara drags herself quite a distance to the nearby expressway where she futilely tries to flag down a car, and then dies on the shoulder of the road. The following day, another young boy is found murdered, drowned in a local stream, which further increases police frustration to the case.



Patrizia herself briefly becomes a suspect when Martelli finds her gold-plated cigarette lighter at the scene of the latest killing and while being interrogated by the police, she refuses to supply an alibi for those nights of each killing. But under the threat of incarceration, she's forced to admit that she traveled outside Accendura to buy marijuana for herself. With little to hold her on, the police let her go as well.



Martelli and Patrizia become more determined to track down the killer on their own. During further meetings with Don Alberto, Martelli also learns that Don Alberto's mother has another young child, a six-year-old girl born mentally retarded. Martelli becomes convinced that the little girl is a witness to the killings after seeing that she compulsively pulls the heads off her dolls, as if doing an imitation to the strangulations. One doll's head, that of Donald Duck, is found near the latest crime scene, which this leap of reason proves accurate. But Martelli and Patrizia wonder: is the killer the priest or his mother? When Aurelia disappears with her daughter, Martelli and Patrizia track her down to a remote shack on a hill overlooking the town and when they arrive, Aurelia is found barely conscious begging them to help her stop her crazy son. It is Don Alberto who is the killer. It turns out that he strangled those young boys not for their sins, but to prevent them from committing sin when they grow up, as well as to save them from the "horrors of sexuality", thus (in his mind) sending them to heaven with clean souls.

In an act contrary to even his sick rationale, he attempts to throw his little sister, a witness to the crimes, off a remote cliff. Martelli arrives in the nick of time, and after a long and climatic fistfight between Martelli and Don Alberto, the twisted priest loses his balance and falls of the cliff to his gruesome death.

Well, the motive of the killer is a bit muddled but other than that this was real good. Plenty of twists, over the top acting and a coherent storyline with beautiful scenary to boot. I recommend this to people who love great mysteries, even if shot overseas...8/10

Another Decent Into...

House of the Devil(2009)...

I had such plans to give this Ti West-directed horror movie a great review. I mean the template was there: set in the 1980s...shot as if I was watching a 70s/80s style horror film...plot simple enough.....and yet NOTHING HAPPENS not until the last 15 mins....I mean you have a college girl babysitting an old lady so she can earn money for her first month's rent...turns out the house is owned by a satanic cult....Ok that is a great idea for a simple low-budget horror film...problem is NOTHING HAPPENS until 35 mins in and then you have to wait again till those final, incoherent 15 mins to see SOMETHING...I really wanted to like this movie, seriously....but sadly, it is nothing but OVERRATED....3/10...the movie losing streak is 3 (Stepfather 2009, Macabre, House of the Devil)...
